Define your potential target communities.
Each of the prospective areas will be heavily researched in this stage. Geographic demographic, culture, and spiritual research to name a few.
Explore the potential target communities.
Exploring with the TAP process includes a few "safari" trips with the team to interact, pray, observe, and discern what the Holy Spirit is saying about each location.
Construct your list of potential target communities.
This is an in-depth method to Construct a working list of 3-5 prospective communities to bring to phase 2.
Discern where the Holy Spirit is directing.
Through leadership, team unity, the church body, and the Holy Spirit...the TAP process confirms a location.
Commit to regular interaction with the chosen community.
Once the TAP process has confirmed a location, commitment and regular visits to the community are paramount to a successful church plant through relationship, word-of-mouth, and partnerships in the area.
The T.A.P. Team is a group of 8-12 people working together over a period of 8-12 weeks to discern where the Holy Spirit is leading the planter/church/sending agency to plant the church.
Our ultimate goal and purpose for the TAP Team Process is to initiate the process of determining the target communities where God wants us to plant life-giving churches.
As followers of Christ, we have a target on our backs and are under continual attack from the enemy of our souls … Satan, the Thief, Killer and Destroyer.
The thief comes only to steal and kill and destroy;
I have come that they may have life, and have it to the full.
John 10:10 (NIV)
As church planters who are bringing people to Christ, building them into disciples & leaders, and sending them out into ministry & mission, we not only have a target on our backs, we have “bullseyes” on our backs!
Every insecurity and fear that you have will rise to the surface. Every weakness and secret sin that you have will be magnified exponentially.
The greatest obstacles and opposition that you will encounter are:
Let us not become weary in doing good, for at the
proper time we will reap a harvest if we do not give up.
Galatians 6:9 (NIV)
After your formal assessment, you will be assigned a coach to help you through the rest of the process. Your coach will connect with you weekly for status updates, insight, and general guidance in the many aspects of church planting. Chances are you haven't planted a church before. We have. Experience can prevent a lot of headaches... and that's what our coaches help you to avoid. Once you've started this process, your coach will be able to track your progress through your Planter Portal account.
We already have in place a residency program with several FEC churches to allow those who will benefit to further their qualifications and ability to plant a church. Once you've completed the formal assessment, your coach will discuss this program with you in detail.
Synergy Network also has periodic training camps as church planters near the finish line. These are scheduled on an as-needed basis, so your coach is your point of contact to set up your training camp as well.
Let's face it, church plants take money. A lot of it. Sometimes God blesses church plants like crazy and they get full funding within a few weeks. Usually, it's a bit of a process and can be quite daunting. We guide our planters through personal funding and launch funding with budget targets, coaching, and more. We also are blessed to offer a revolving church plant fund, through which we can supplement your fundraising to be repaid at a later date. Think of the revolving church plant fund as a limited interest-free loan when your plant is nearing launch date and needs that little bit of extra funding!
How do you know if you are “called” to plant a church, and how do you get started? With our Planter Pathway you can easily see the overview of your journey to becoming our next church planter!
